Planning Commission General Information

The Bell Buckle Planning Commission consists of five members. Two of these members is the mayor of Bell Buckle and another board member of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The other three members shall be appointed by the Mayor. The terms of the appointive members shall be for three years, except that, in the appointment of the first municipal planning commission, the terms of the three appointive members shall be for one, two, and three years, respectively, so that the term of one member shall expire each year. Any vacancy in an appointive member shall be filled for the unexpired term by the mayor, who, at his pleasure, shall have the authority to remove any appointive member. The terms of the mayor and the other member selected from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen shall run concurrently with their membership on the Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

The Planning Commission shall be organized and shall carry out its powers, functions, and duties in accordance with title 13 of the Tennessee Code Annotated. The commission shall elect its chairman and a secretary from among its membership. The terms of all officers shall be for one year, with eligibility for reelection. The commission shall adopt such rules of procedure and organization as may be necessary to effectuate this chapter and to perform its functions as prescribed by state law and it shall keep an official public record of its meetings, transactions, findings, and determinations.
